Hi! I'm Cassie, and I'm the herbalist behind Sassafras Apothecarie. Thanks for being here!

Sassafras Apothecarie began long before it ever became a business. More than a decade ago, I started learning home herbalism as a way to care for myself during my own health challenges. What began as quiet, personal study quickly turned into a full blown passion.

I fell in love with growing herbs, harvesting them at the peak of their goodness, and turning them into simple everyday remedies for my family. Over the years, my shelves filled with salves, tinctures, teas, and infused oils. Family and friends started asking for “a jar of whatever you made last time” or “another tin of that stuff that helped so much.” The requests kept coming, and after a long time of lovingly making things in small batches just for the people in my circle, Sassafras Apothecarie officially came to life in 2025.

Many of the herbs used in our products are grown, tended, and harvested right here on our homestead in the hills of southern Indiana. I plant, pick, dry, and prepare them by hand, using traditional methods that allow the plants to shine in the way they were meant to. For the herbs that don’t grow well in our climate, I source from trusted growers who share my values for quality and care.

Sassafras Apothecarie is a true family-owned operation. I handle the formulation, herbal work, and small batch production, while my husband contributes his creativity, tech prowess, and a hundred other behind the scenes tasks that keep us running smoothly. Every now and then, our tween jumps in to help label or package shipments when she wants to earn some pocket change.

Every product we make is crafted with intention, respect for the plants, and a genuine love for this work. We’re honored to share a little bit of our homestead and classic herbal traditions with you.
